International Medical / Emergency Insurance
The University of Central Oklahoma requires all faculty, staff, and students to have adequate medical insurance while traveling or studying abroad on university sponsored programs. Policies purchased through UCO offer core benefits and reasonable group rates provided by International Student Insurance, a NAFSA Global Partner and accredited insurance agency with an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau. The plan is designed to assist you in the event of an unexpected accident or injury while abroad, including coverage for medical expenses, emergency and political evacuation, repatriation of remains, emergency reunion, lost checked luggage, and other related benefits. The cost varies per individual as the plan is based on a daily rate as well as gender, age, and length of coverage. A full list of benefits can be found at the following link: Schedule of Benefits.
When completing the Registration Form, please verify that the travel dates are entered accurately as this directly reflects when your coverage begins and ends. Once the Centre for Global Competency has processed your order, you will receive insurance confirmation at the e-mail address provided. All individual student insurance charges will be placed on the student’s bursar account. Faculty leaders of UCO study tours should contact Tina Kirk, the Assistant Director of Education Abroad, for information on how to apply and pay for group insurance through an established university account. Registration forms should be submitted at least one month prior to the departure date to ensure coverage.
